So this is the new year…
…and you know what? I feel pretty different! Thanks to Ben Gibbard for (unknowingly) allowing me to be the ten millionth person to co-opt his lyrics for my own nefarious purposes, even when they’re not particularly applicable or relevant; as you’re probably aware, the new year actually happened a few months ago, so I’m notably tardy on my big pronouncement.
If you’re still with me after that preamble, you may be wondering: how do I feel different? Well, here’s how: the album’s finished (no joke); I’ve signed on with a music PR company called Baby Robot to provide this album with the environment it deserves, one geared towards growth and success; and I’ve got actual release dates lined up for three singles and the album drop. I think that’s all pretty fucking dope, and I hope you agree. Here are some dirty details to wet your whistle:
Single #1: April 15
Single #2: May 13
Single #3: May 27
Album: June 11
Some of those dates are still a ways off, but my PR campaign officially kicked off yesterday, so there are wheels turning in the background, and those wheels will start turning faster and faster as we get closer to mid-April. I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you what the singles are yet, but you haven’t heard any of ‘em anyway, so a song title probably wouldn’t do much for you. Get over it.
I’m excited to see what comes of all this; it’s certainly the first time I’ve put forth anything approaching this level of effort related to releasing new music. My “strategy” for every past release has been to upload it to the internet with little/no fanfare, sit back in my computer chair, and gaze despondently out the window as the crickets chirp. So doing, you know, anything at all is a relatively significant shift for me, and the fact that Baby Robot was down to work with me is pretty encouraging.
While all of this promo material begins to spin up, I’ve been working on new music (ABC: Always Be Creatingnewmusic) while doing my best to come to grips with Baby Robot’s social media instructions: I’m supposed to post on Instagram basically every day, which truly sounds like a nightmare. Like, this is my first blog post since November. Clearly, I do not have the content or inclination to post anything on a daily basis. But if relentless Insta-posts are my golden ticket to exposure, I’ll do my best, even if my best is just a series of pictures of my bare feet next to a computer screen:
More to come. For real this time.
